Are you wondering about counselling? you might be wondering if it is the right step for you.
The thought of counselling can feel daunting if you have never been or don't know anyone else that has.
You may have so many thoughts in your mind and are struggling to make sense of them. I wonder how it would feel to be able to share your thoughts with another person who has no connection to you. What to expect and one of the things I get asked by clients is how many sessions will I need? At the moment you may be feeling vulnerable and may be finding it hard to make decisions or even choices, I'm hoping this blog can answer some of the thoughts you have.

How can counselling turn your life around?
Counselling helps to give you more clarity
You will be helped to explore your thoughts whilst being challenged at the same time
It provides a place where you will be heard
Your counsellor will help you to become more resilient
You will gain a better understanding of yourself and the relationships you have
How to get an idea of the number of sessions
At our first session I will ask you what you are hoping to get from therapy, its ok if your not sure at this stage, please don't worry we can explore this together.
You may have time or financial considerations that I need to be aware of in order to help you, this is something we can also talk about in our first session.
How to get the best from the sessions
Take time to prepare before the session, take time out if you are busy, it might be nice to get a coffee beforehand and sit quietly thinking about what you would like to discuss in the time that you have.
Give yourself time to get to your session if you are travelling. If the session is online or telephone make sure you have a comfortable, quiet, confidential space to sit in and set your computer up ready to start.
If you are hoping to have time limited session, prioritise what you would like to work on and communicate that to me.
When the session ends, take time to reflect and journal your thoughts, you can always look back on this in between sessions.
